Rock and Roll
Rock and roll is a genre of music that evolved in the United States in the late 1940s and early 1950s, and quickly spread to the rest of the world. The immediate origins of the music lie in the late 1940s and early 1950s through a mixing together of various popular musical genres of the time. These include the blues particularly the electric forms being developed in Memphis, Chicago, New Orleans, Texas, California and elsewhere, piano based boogie woogie and jump blues. Also in the melting pot were Hillbilly and Western Swing later known as Country and Western with influences from traditional Appalachian folk music and Dixieland jazz.
The British Rock and Roll scene began in earnest during the mid-1970s following the Rock and Roll revival and continues to go from strength to strength and Steve being one of the most diverse Rock and Roll DJs on the circuit has been part of that scene since 1991.
